Located in Matthews, NC, we create meaningful jewelry and offer personalized experiences to celebrate life's milestones.

Position Summary

Peterson MADE is looking for a Studio Assistant who enjoys working with people, thrives in a creative environment, and wants to grow alongside a small, hands-on business. The Studio Assistant plays a key role in delivering an exceptional customer experience while helping Peterson MADE operate efficiently. This is the studio's first dedicated support position, created to keep retail operations running smoothly, while creating additional capacity for the owner to focus on jewelry fabrication, custom design, and professional piercing.

This position reports to the owner and supports daily retail operations, customer experience, business administration, and studio organization. As Peterson MADE grows, the role is expected to grow alongside the business, with opportunities to develop new skills and take on greater responsibility over time.

Work Location & Schedule

Peterson MADE has two studio locations in Matthews, NC. The primary work location is the retail studio inside Moxie Mercantile in Downtown Matthews. Some responsibilities and special projects may take place at the production studio, where our jewelry is made.

This is a part-time daytime position averaging 12–15 hours per week to start. Coverage is needed primarily during daytime business hours on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with some flexibility for events, seasonal promotions, and business needs.

Training is provided alongside the owner, with increasing independence as skills, competency, and confidence develop. The expectation is that the Studio Assistant will confidently operate scheduled retail shifts while maintaining the Peterson MADE customer experience and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

• Welcome, greet, and assist customers
• Perform appointment administration duties, including scheduling, check-in, ensuring waiver / consent forms are completed, verifying government-issued IDs, and managing walk-in waitlists
• Provide knowledgeable, friendly assistance to customers in person and by telephone
• Deliver a consistent, high-quality customer experience
• Build client relationships through exceptional service and personalized experiences

Revenue & Retail

• Process retail sales transactions
• Educate customers on Peterson MADE products and services
• Assist customers with product selection
• Merchandise displays and restock inventory
• Perform Forever Linked permanent jewelry welding services

Business Operations

• Monitor and respond to customer emails
• Maintain appointment availability and scheduling platform information
• Capture studio photography for marketing and business purposes
• Package and ship orders
• Help improve and document studio processes and operating procedures
• Assist with social media content, scheduling, and posting
• Support marketing initiatives
• Assist with Shopify product updates and merchandising as responsibilities grow

Studio Support

• Maintain studio cleanliness and presentation
• Support jewelry production activities as needed
• Organize supplies, maintain inventory, and assist with jewelry cleaning and tagging
• Assist with or lead special projects

Additional Information

• This role requires standing for most of a shift, with occasional lifting, bending, and reaching. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are required for Forever Linked permanent jewelry welding.
• Candidates must be at least 18 years old
• Forever Linked permanent jewelry welding is a core responsibility of this role. No prior experience is required or expected on day one; full, hands-on training is provided, and independent welding begins after demonstrated competency.

Technology Experience

No advanced technical skills are required. Candidates should be comfortable using everyday technology, including:

• Email and online calendars
• Social media platforms (Instagram and TikTok)
• Word processing software (Microsoft Word, Google Docs, or similar)
• Basic spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets)

Helpful Experience

Experience with any of the following is helpful, but not required. These skills will shorten the learning curve and allow for a quicker transition into the role:

• Retail experience, particularly jewelry or specialty retail
• Shopify
• Acuity Scheduling or similar booking platform
• Klaviyo or other email marketing platforms
• Canva
• Content creation for social media

Compensation & Benefits

• Starting pay: $18.00/hour
